What will this machine do?
De knuffelmachine geeft troost steun aan mensen die zich niet goed voelen. Mensen die zich niet goed voelen door verschillende redenen (misschien door corona of iets anders, of door teveel te werken, omdat je moe loopt) kunnen op een dorpsplein of in een dokterspraktijk of in een park eventjes passeren voor een knuffel. Je kan zitten en een stofje op de zuignappen strooien waardoor die warm krijgt. De handen geven je een massage. Daardoor voel je je rustiger en beter.
Why was it invented?
Mijn papa heeft veel stress door zijn werk. Hij is vaak moe. Ik voel me daardoor ook soms niet zo goed in mijn vel. Ik dacht om een machine te maken zodat mijn papa zich beter kan voelen maar misschien is het een goed idee om de machine ook voor andere mensen te ontwerpen.

We selected this Dream Machine idea to be part of the MyMachine DreamsDrop 2021 Campaign.
Creativity going global. We are thrilled to share that our DreamsDrop Campaign 2021 has given over 500 children the opportunity to invent and upload their dream machine drawings to our world-map of ideas. Children from all continents have joined and they are from 21 countries: Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, India, Vietnam, Turkey, Armenia
Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, Canada, Usa, Mexico, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
Those hundreds and hundreds of ideas go along the spectrum of fun, solving a personal problem, to create a solution for their community and others for a global issue. That is the true power of our open-ended approach.
In total 39 ideas were selected. For those ideas, Proof-of-Concepts (scale-models) have been build by 130 Industrial Product Design Students from
- the Industrial Design Center at HOWEST University of Applied Sciences (Belgium) and
- School of Design at Technológico de Monterrey Escuela de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño, campus Querétaro (Mexico).
In this case, college students from Belgium worked on making a proof-of-concept. They had only 2 days. The results -considering such a short term- are astonishing.
In this case, they have built a scale model. The actual solution should be at least 4 times the size.
